The 2015 Fall/Winter Color and Style trends are out and now it is just a matter of a little change in the weather in Jacksonville, Florida before we can start enjoying wearing some of the new trends in clothing, accessories, shoes and handbags! The most sought out information each season is Pantone’s “IT” Color and color palette. This season the color is Marsala and the palette includes luscious names such as, Biscayne Bay Teal, Stormy Weather Blue and Reflecting Pond. On the other side of the spectrum there are also muted colors and neutrals that will be turning up on all the new designer clothing as well as on luxury items. Look out for names such as Dried Herb and Desert Sage!
If your clothing wardrobe is looking a bit “so last year” and needs some updating then get out there and start shopping. Not sure if the new colors or trends are right for you then a shopping trip to a consignment shop is a great way to go. Consignment shops such as, Sweet Repeats in Jacksonville, Florida are filled with great merchandise that you can purchase for a fraction of the cost of retail. This is a great way to experiment with your wardrobe!
Even though thermometers are still registering 100 degrees here in Jacksonville, Florida it is time to start checking out the Fall 2015 trends. The European and New York fashion weeks were so exciting with so many fun styles emerging on each of the runways. Check out the fringe, fur and even high-waisted, flared-bottom pants. ” Groovy chic”-what a great description of this style!
Love the fur—designers showed it covering everything from coats to hats. In Florida, a little fur goes a long way. A fur neckline or hemline would be a great alternative to an all-over fur outfit. Ralph Lauren showed a fur hat with an evening dress and called it “Casual Luxe”.
Looks to be an interesting Fall! What will you be wearing?

As the New Year opens, I remind myself of where I started in order to anticipate where my future will lead. My business is my heart and soul, and revamping it this year feels a little like reinventing myself. The walls, which were once beige, are now covered with a light grey paint, and new carpet is being installed in the showroom as I type this message. The changes I have in store for Sweet Repeats reminds me of my passion – fashion. I love sharing with people how to look fabulous while on a budget, which is exactly why I started this business 27 years ago. However, with each year that passes I am reminded of the importance of modernization and adapting style.
2015 will be a powerhouse year for fashion, and I wanted Sweet Repeats to capture that essence. In honor of this, I’ve decided to eliminate the front racks as they are and replace them with a newer style. Light fixtures are on order, and custom shoe trees have been commissioned in order to better showcase the incredible merchandise rolling in. Soon, park benches and wall lighting sconces will add a new ambiance to the space and a scalloped-edge awning will frame the space above my counter. Customers trying on shoes will be able to relax on ottomans and splashes of pink accents will dot the store, capturing the essence of everyday chic that I feel – and my clientele exudes. But like a revamped wardrobe, not everything needs to be new, and so, like the perfect little black dress, we have repurposed some of our features and counters and rearranged the existing layout.
I have been so lucky to have a gracious and loyal staff that has been helping facilitate these renovations. The last time I gave my store a mini-makeover was over four years ago, but I understand that it is time to evolve with Sweet Repeats and ready it for another year of empowering people to take control of their image and feel wonderful about themselves. The next six weeks will be a whirlwind of change, and I would love to invite you to share this moment with me. Come experience the revamped Sweet Repeats and fall in love with fashion all over again.

In 1984, Kermit Oliver became the first American to design a scarf for Hermes, the legendary luxury French company known for their beautiful silk scarves. Before his association with Hermes, Mr. Oliver worked the night shift for 29 years in the Waco, Texas post office. Oliver was chosen by Hermes because he was able to capture the “spirit of the Southwest”. Mr. Olivers’ latest creation (and 17th) is a tribute to conservationist, Caesar Klenberg.
Yves Saint Laurent is regarded as a visionary and his influence is evident in the designs of many other fashion designers.
As a youngster, Saint Laurent was creating intricate paperdolls and as a teenager, he was designing clothing for his mother and sisters while living in Oran, French Algeria where he was born in 1936. Saint Laurents professional career began in 1957 when he was chosen by Christian Dior to succeed him as the head designer of the Fashion House of Christian Dior. Amazing that at the age of 21 he was designing the couture collection of a major fashion house. Saint Laurent is also credited with saving the Dior enterprise from financial ruin. His first collections catapulted him to rock star status.
Saint Laurent began his own fashion house in the early 60’s. Some of the looks and trends he created are the trapeze dress, safari jackets, tight pants, thigh high boots and his most notable look, the tuxedo suit for women.
In 1983 Saint Laurent became the first living designer to be honored by the Metropolitan Museum of Art with a solo exhibition.
Tom Ford was named creative director of the fashion house in 2000 and Saint Laurent retired in 2002 and died of brain cancer in 2008.
In 2012, Hedi Slimane took over the house and was pushing for a more modern and youthful era. She accomplished that with a new name, “Saint Laurent Paris”. The iconic YSL logo remains and the new name applies only to women’s ready-to-wear.
What do you think, new name or original name?
