Drum roll, please! The moment all fashionistas and interior designers have been waiting for: The Pantone Color of the Year 2018 is, Ultra Violet. It’s unexpected, refreshing, complex, celestial and spiritual. Pantone, the color experts, tell us, ” “Ultra Violet is often associated with mindfulness practices, so it has a spiritual or mystical quality. A little bit of magic is inferred in the color”. The color purple has always been associated with royalty, wealth, complexity, craftmanship, ecclesiastical power and counterculturalism. It has been noted that the popularity of the color purple shows up at important turning points in history. Maybe the current rise in its popularity is a foreshadowing of an upcoming cultural renaissance. Purple can be both a warm or a cool color so it is much more versatile than one would think. Different shades of purple pair well together and they can also serve as strong complimentary colors. Will you be wearing purple and if so, what will you pair it with? Enjoy updating your wardrobe this Spring by wearing this awesome color!

The hot new color of the moment is, Millenial Pink. This is that really feminine shade of pink that in the past maybe had been called blush, or pastel pink. Here are some hints on what and how to wear it: At this time of the year, Pair millenial pink with tropical shades and then darker neutrals in the Fall. Dusty and dirty millenial pink works great with navy. Warm millenial pink is best paired with orange. Have fun experimenting with the pairings. Enjoy!!
Now that it has been 10 years of skinny jeans and narrow styled pants we are in a state of wardrobe fatigue– it is finally time for a change! The Fall and Resort Collections are showing lots of volume!! Yeah –a reason to shop—a new look! The key to successfully wearing volume is understanding how it relates to the body.
Leandra Medine, the founder of the Man Repeller website is a devotee of the oversize look. She looks for voluminous clothes that are “thoughtful and that subversively celebrate a woman’s body. Ms. Medine likes to pair her super -wide legged pants with a close-fitting T-shirt and button-down shirts. So basically, it all depends on balance and how you style the pieces.
The trend is also spilling over into evening wear —designers are showing one -shoulder tops, ruffles and tiers. The style went from lean and narrow to looks that are more about movement. The look is easy, unforced and comfortable.
What’s your style slim and narrow or loose and easy??
